Description
DATE: Vintage, c.1990
The apple and the arrow, an old famous tale that dates all the way back to the 14th century, where a Swiss marksman (William Tell) is punished for failing to salute and bow to a government official. His punishment involved shooting an apple off the head of his own son! He succeeds and later escapes imprisonment and kills his foe. How much of it is true? I guess we will never know.
I'd like to say this Vintage brooch is inspired by this tale... It's modelled as an arrow shooting through an apple! Starting at the end of the arrow, it features two gorgeous pear shaped pink tourmalines (approx. 0.70ct total), set at either side of a brown diamond. The shaft features a bright baguette cut, which leads you to a 0.75ct trillion cut diamond (arrow head). It appears to be shooting at the juicy ruby cabochon apple, with two emerald "leaves". It's crafted in 18k yellow gold throughout, with hallmarks for London, dating it to the year 1990.
