Victorian Diamond Lucky Horseshoe Brooch
Victorian Diamond Lucky Horseshoe Brooch
$6,800.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1880
This stunning oversized antique brooch is modelled as the ever lucky and charming horseshoe. Dating from the Victorian period, the piece is dripping with chunky old cut diamonds in a single row round the shape of the open worked shoe, with a total weight of 3.22 carats. Surrounding these are glistening rose cut diamonds, all set in silver and backed in 15k gold. It features a super finely pierced gallery, brooch fittings and a safety chain.
There are many superstitions on which way you should hang a horseshoe, however many believe that to hang a horseshoe with the ends pointing upward, acts as a storage container for any good luck that happens to be floating by!
