DATE: Antique, c.1890
This stunning antique brooch is in the form of four frosted green glass grapes, suspended from a chased gold stem that curls around a rose cut diamond-set branch. Made by the renowned Fonsèque et Olive, its modelled in 18k gold and silver throughout, and looks great worn on your collar, scarf or hat! Made in France and dating to circa, 1890.
Georges Fonsèque (d.1939) and Emile Olive (1853-1902) made these brooches in the form of grapes (red or green frosted glass), with usually two, three or four berries! Fonsèque et Olive was established in 1885 and Olive had worked for the renowned Parisian goldsmith and jeweller, Lucien Falize, and went into partnership with Fonsèque- soon to be highly celebrated for their unique jewels that featured expert enamelling and materials. They designed the coffee bean brooch, as well as the grapes too!
