Georgian Boxed 8.46ct Diamond Cluster Brooch Pendant
Georgian Boxed 8.46ct Diamond Cluster Brooch Pendant
$19,000.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1830
An exceptional antique pendant (with detachable brooch fittings) dating to the late Georgian period, circa 1830. The quality and craftsmanship are particularly fine, and its dripping with chunky old mine cut diamonds throughout, 8.46ct total. Starting from the middle, a 2ct old cut takes centre stage- set in silver cut down settings, typical of the period, with an open back to display its natural sparkle, chunk and brilliance. A total weight of 1.56 carats of old cuts are similarly set, surrounding the centre stone in a halo/cluster formation. A larger halo surrounds the stones, alternating in size, creating great movement and that gorgeous cluster shape, 4.64ct total. It hangs from an original old cut diamond set bail, again silver set and all backed in 15 karat gold. The brooch fittings are detachable, so this can be worn both on a chain or attached to your coat. The piece rests beautifully in a fitted velvet blue box- whoever made it had an impeccable attention to detail.
