DATE: Georgian, c.1820

A perfectly formed antique Giardinetti (flower basket) ring, dating from the Georgian period, circa 1820. The flowers are modelled as forget-me-nots, and each petal - and the basket- are gorgeously set with vibrant turquoise cabochons throughout. Its modelled in buttery 15k yellow gold, with a slim band and lovely open worked head.

Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers". It had a major impact upon Victorian society, however, it first originated during the Georgian period. Many flowers represented a romantic or emotional sentiment, and in this case forget-me-not for true love.
