DATE: Intaglio- 2nd Century AD, Ring- Georgian
Zeus was known as the king of all gods in Ancient Greek Mythology, and ruled the sky, thunder, and lightning. He was also associated with justice and honour, and was often seen in animal form- the eagle. It was also a symbol of immortality, believed - like the phoenix - to be able to renew its youth.
This fantastic Georgian ring is set with a Ancient Roman intaglio, featuring the Greek god, Zeus. The God has been carved into a carnelian panel, seen with his eagle. The mount is crafted in k yellow gold throughout, with a chunky band and closed back setting. The intaglio remains in gorgeous condition- why wouldn't you want to wear this powerful god upon your finger?
