Victorian Rose Cut Diamond Mandolin Pendant Brooch
Victorian Rose Cut Diamond Mandolin Pendant Brooch
$4,000.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A charming music instrument pendant brooch, the Mandolin. Dating from the Victorian period, circa 1880, this gorgeous brooch pendant is modelled as a mandolin, set with rose cut diamond accents. Its a three-dimensional piece, with fine textured detail throughout and long silver "strings". It features a small silver ribbon wrapping around the piece, creating great movement. Its crafted in rosey 15 karat gold throughout, and can be worn as intended (as a brooch), or you can even loop a chain through!
Mandolin enthusiasts today speak of a “golden age", its period of popularity, from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. During this time, the instrument became increasingly popular, leading to the formation of thousands of mandolin orchestras globally. What I love the most about this is the instrument's use in society by both men AND women (girl power!!).
