DATE: Victorian, c.1880
A small and perfectly formed antique lucky horseshoe stick pin dating from the Victorian period, circa 1880. It's studded with the most gorgeous chunky old mine cut diamonds and vivid red rubies- set in silver. The pin is crafted in yellow gold and it remains in great condition ~ 145 years on.
Horseshoes have long been associated with good luck, and has become popular symbol to provide protection. There are many superstitions on which way you should hang a horseshoe, however many believe that to hang a horseshoe with the ends pointing upward, acts as a storage container for any good luck that happens to be floating by.
