Georgian Silhouette Swivel Memorial Ring
Georgian Silhouette Swivel Memorial Ring
$4,000.00
Description
DATE: George III, c.1780
A stunning quality Georgian spinner ring dating from the latter half of the 18th Century, circa 1780. The head features two oval locket compartments that can be flipped around, allowing the wearer to chose which side is on display.
One side contains an intricate silhouette portrait depicting a long-haired gentleman wearing an ornate lace ruff and surrounded by a border of forget-me-nots and pink roses; while the other side features the initials GET (although it kind of looks like G&T...), intricately crafted from seed pearls, over a woven hair backdrop with further forget-me-not flowers above and below.
It's modelled in 15 karat rose gold, most likely French in origin.
