"The best things await us in heaven"... I think we could all say that about a loved one, whether that be a person or pet! This charming Georgian intaglio seal fob is set with a foil backed citrine base. Its intaglio carved with the phrase "OPTIMA COELO", which loosely translates to "The best things await us in heaven". Below is a hand with the first and second fingers pointing upwards, and according to Fairbairn's Book of Crests, this links to the Miller family- an English and Scottish surname, and linked to those who kept, operated or owned mills. It was first popularised in the wake of the Norman Conquest of 1066!! A fantastic piece with lots of history, and a beautiful ornate body completes the piece, crafted in 9k yellow gold.
