Vintage Celebratory "The Royal Wedding" Blue Jasperware Pendant
Vintage Celebratory "The Royal Wedding" Blue Jasperware Pendant
$950.00
Description
DATE: Vintage, c.1981
This fantastic Vintage pendant was made by Wedgewood, specialists in pottery and most famous for their "Jasperware" collections. The iconic light blue jasper used in this piece was so well known, its colour was eventually titled "Wedgwood Blue"!
The pendant itself is part of the Royal Wedding collection, a special edition made for Lady Diana (my forever Queen ;)) and Prince Charles (who is now king), for their wedding day, that took place on the 29th of July 1981. Each side of the pendant features the couple in a white high relief- the Charles portrait was modelled by Arnold Machin and Diana's, Michael Dillion. The centre piece is encased in silver, with swirling silverwork that creates a lovely border, leading to the original silver bail. With makers marks for Wedgewood (JW) and English hallmarks for 1981, the pendant remains in lovely condition and is a great collectable item.
