DATE: Victorian, c.1900

A stunning antique brooch modelled as a shooting star, dating from the turn of the century, circa 1900. The star itself is set with 0.90 carats of chunky and bright old cut diamonds, resting in silver open backed settings. Shooting out from the star are trails of old cut diamonds, natural green emeralds and juicy rubies. Each one is set in alternating silver and gold settings, with tapered points and small pommel details. It features both brooch and pendant fittings for wear on a chain or collar! The sky's mysterious nature intrigued the Victorians, and it represented the realm of dreams, magic, and the hidden aspects of life- and this gorgeous piece remains in dazzling condition.
