Vintage Diamond & Enamel Beetle Brooch
$950.00
Description
DATE: Vintage, c.1970
This weird and wonderful vintage brooch is modelled as a bug/beetle. Italian made, it's back is set with striped red enamel, with further green and red enamel to it's head. With two striking gold pincers and six legs that features fine textured detail, the eyes are diamond set and it's crafted in 18k gold throughout. Dates from the 1970's.
In many cultures, beetles are symbols of good fortune. In Chinese and some Native American folklore, beetles are associated with prosperity, wealth, and fertility. While some beetles are (not our favourite) garden pests, some others can defend crops by eating more harmful insects, bringing growth. Beetles can be a sign that good luck and abundance are coming your way.
