Vintage Butler & Wilson "Mood Swing" Brooch
Vintage Butler & Wilson "Mood Swing" Brooch
$600.00
Description
DATE: Vintage, c.1980
A fantastic costume piece by Butler and Wilson. In 1969, Butler & Wilson (Nicky Butler and Simon Wilson) began selling jewellery in the Antiquarius market, Chelsea and shortly after in 1972 their first shop opened in London. Taking inspiration from the Art Deco period to the Victorian era, they used coloured stones and crystals to create glamorous statement pieces. Princess Diana was seen wearing many Butler and Wilson pieces... Such as a starburst hair clip and a snake brooch.
This cool costume brooch is inspired by "mood swings". Much like the mood rings that you had as a kid, this one features a little rhinestone set man sat on a swing that swings from left to right, or should I say from happy, to bad, great, bored and lucky. Set with a rhinestone top, it's crafted in steel and dates from the 1980s. Stamped with the Butler & Wilson marks.
