DATE: Vintage, c.1960

Cartier are famous for their wide array of jewelled bird brooches from the 1920's and onward and this little bird brooch dates from the 1960's. It's modelled in 18k gold throughout, perched on a branch, set with a diamond at the end, with a lovely gold beak and diamond set feathers. The body and tail is finely detailed, and the body is set with a 12 carat Citrine gemstone, complemented perfectly by a piercing, pear shaped garnet set eye. Cleary stamped with Cartier Paris to the back of the brooch, it dates from the 1960's.
