DATE: Victorian, c.1840

This gorgeous Victorian memorial brooch is set with the most vibrant blue enamel. It surrounds a small border of old cut diamonds, with an old European cut diamond set urn motif that sits in the centre. The back, features an inscription... "Robert and Eleanor Towns Bequest to Hannah Brown" and "Harriet Braddyll in Remembrance from H Brown OBT Dec 21 1878, 1840". From what I can see, this was left for Hannah Brown, and she then years later added her own inscription for a friend, or family member. The locket compartment is currently home to a woven lock of hair, and is accessed from the back behind a glass compartment. A fantastic piece of history and a fine and high quality brooch. Crafted in 15k gold and comes complete with fitted box.
