DATE: Georgian, c.1820

A beautiful Georgian dove pendant dating from the early 19th Century, circa 1820. It's modelled in silver, and set with white paste gemstones including a stunning central old pear cut full of life and colour. The dove has long been a powerful symbol of peace and freedom, but they're also know as "Love Birds" and it's likely this was exchanged as a gift of affection between lovers. Made at a time when paste gemstones could command as much (or more) as the gemstones they emulated.
