$2,000.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1750
An original 18th Century porcelain Derby Chelsea period fob seal. This one features a well dressed gentleman leaning on a tree-stump and displays the green and gold base typical of the Chelsea factory.
These seals would have been given as love tokens by the rich and famous of the day.
From Bryant's The Chelsea Porcelian Toys (1925) p.145 - "Seal in the form of a Gallant bowing and supported by a green tree-stump, he has a black hat under his right arm, a mauve coat, white waistcoat with a pattern, and blue breeches; the base is green with gold rim."
Please note that to colouration of this particular piece differs from Bryant's description - the mould used to create the figure, however, was the very same!
