2000s Ukrainian Trinity Wedding Ring
2000s Ukrainian Trinity Wedding Ring
$1,000.00
Description
DATE: Contemporary, 2004
I'd been trying for a while now to decipher the hallmark on this trinity wedding ring (aka Russian wedding ring) with little success... so bought a new book*, and, low and behold, they're not Russian at all. Rather, they're Ukrainian. The Cyrillic maker's mark and layout of the hallmarks was pointing me towards Russia, but turns out this is the national symbol of Ukraine - the Trident Arms (sometimes referred to as a diving hawk). It's composed from the Cyrillic characters that form the world Freedom, and represents Ukraine's emergence as an independent nation. The two sets of marks tell us the ring was manufactured in Kharkiv in 2004 and hallmarked for 14k gold at the Kramatorsk assay office.
*World Hallmarks Vol. 1 (2010) by Whetstone, Niklewicz & Matula. It's incredible.
