Victorian Silver Mizpah Ring
$625.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1895
Cool Victorian MIZPAH ring made in the year 1882. Hebrew for "watchtower", the mizpah sentiment has come to connote an emotional bond between two people who have become separated - either physically or by death. The word is often used as the name for a cemetery, often seen on headstones and other memorials. This ring was likely exchanged to commemorate a promise or bond. Crafted in sterling silver, the lettering stands out over a textured surface and it features English hallmarks for Birmingham, 1895.
"The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another" - Genesis 31:49 of the Bible.
