DATE: 

The SWEETEST silver rebus love token, Italian circa 1880. It's taken me a while to get to the bottom of it (a rebus puzzle really needs a native speaker to solve...), so here goes:

"A te SOLa è il MIo pensiero" - To You Alone and My Thoughts, or Only You and My Thoughts.

It uses the phonetic scale, a "G" reads "sol" and the "E" reads "mi", and the pansy slots in as the word pensiero ("thoughts", Viola de pensiero). It's crafted in silver, with wonderfully enamelled pansy flower and maker's mark AA*.
