DATE: Victorian, c.1880
An incredible antique "musical locket" dating from the latter half of the 19th Century. It's crafted in silver gilt - the outer case adorned with gorgeous hand-chased detailing - and it opens to reveal a miniature music box, the inner workings on display through a clear compartment. There's a small winder and button on the back to begin playing the song. It's made by Reuge, an esteemed Swiss music box maker established in 1865.
