DATE: Victorian, c.1880

A particularly cool Victorian locket that will make you feel like Aphrodite. It's modelled as a golden apple; it's hinged down one side, and opens to reveal enamelled pips and a round locket compartment inside. Crafted in 15k gold and it dates from the late 19th Century, circa 1880.

The golden apple appears in many folk legends and fairytales around the world, from the myths of ancient Greece, to Irish/Celtic lore, and even appearing with their own leitmotif in Wagner's Ring Cycle.
