Description

These beautiful earrings date from the early 19th Century, making them over 200 years old. The gemstones are aquamarine coloured pastes and since they're mounted in domed foil-backed settings which reflect the light back out through the stones further enhancing the colour and brightness. They were made at a time when paste was a relatively new technology (its basically a form of leaded glass with different additives to display colour), and all the rage - commanding as much, if not more, as the natural gemstones they sought to replicate. The earrings are crafted in 9 karat gold and were made in England circa 1800.
