This exceptional antique set comprises a swag necklace and coordinating drop earrings, crafted in the Etruscan Revival style during the 1860s. The Necklace has three main drops, featuring an intricate knotted design with applied ropework details, gracefully hanging from a double belcher link chain. Additional chain drapes connect the central and outer drops, creating a harmonious design. The earrings that complement the set display the identical intricate knotted design, adorned with applied ropework details. The entire set is meticulously crafted in 15-karat gold.

The Etruscan Revivalist movement, sparked in the mid-19th century, drew inspiration from jewelry discovered in excavations of ancient tombs in Pompeii and Herculaneum. The mesmerizing goldwork found in these excavations captivated both skilled jewellers and the elite of society. Relearning the techniques employed by their ancient counterparts took over a decade, resulting in masterpieces like this set.
