A gorgeous 18th Century Posy ring with the words "not the value but my love" inscribed to the inside of the band. The outer band is beautifully textured, with deeply chased abstract embellishment. It's modelled in 18 karat gold with PR maker's mark, and was made circa 1750.
Posy Rings take their name from the old word Poesy, meaning a poem or poetic line, and would have been exchanged as betrothal rings - each one personalised with a meaningful choice of verse.
