WW1 Trench Art Heart Ring
WW1 Trench Art Heart Ring
$850.00
Description
DATE: WW1, c.1915
An incredible example of WW1 "trench art",made by a soldiers on the front lines using whatever materials they had to hand. This ring is predominantly aluminium, likely from the nose cone of an artillery shell, set at the head with a copper (?) heart. Given the circumstances under which it was made, the quality is quite remarkable - it's crude, but well made, and on account of the aluminium it's deceptively light. Presumably made to send home to theirs truly.
