Description
DATE: Mid-Century, c.1940s
This amazing band ring is made by the renowned Italian jewellers, Buccellati. Founded by Mario Buccellati in Milan in 1919, a revival of the families goldsmith tradition and history. The brand became known, world-wide, for its unique textural goldwork, inspired by Renaissance techniques, with signature elements like filigree and honeycomb. Fast forward to the 1940's, Mario invented the Eternelle ring as a symbol of eternal love. - "The ring has no beginning or end, just like a circle: its circularity encloses the light and the preciousness of love."
This "Eternelle" piece features an amazing combination of colour- from the 1.13ct oval blue sapphire, to the openwork design studded with diamonds, to the fine textured gold work borders. The sapphire is set at the widest part of the band, set in gold and surrounded by the gorgeous open work panels. Each diamond shaped panel features four brilliant cut diamonds, super bright and sparkly and connected by charming gold pommels. Its modelled in 18 karat gold (yellow and white) throughout, and is signed on the lip of the gold band.
