Late Victorian Diamond Crescent Brooch
Late Victorian Diamond Crescent Brooch
$3,700.00
Description
DATE: Late Victorian, c.1900
This sparkling crescent moon is set with approximately 1.78 carats of glistening old mine cut diamonds. Crescents, stars and other celestial symbols can be seen throughout antique jewellery- the sky's mysterious nature intrigued the Victorians, and it represented the realm of dreams, magic, and the hidden aspects of life. This late Victorian brooch is a slim example, set with one row of old cut diamonds, graduating in size across its open backed settings. The stones rest in silver, while the brooch is backed with 15 karat gold, featuring a finely pierced gallery. If you're not a fan of the brooch, why not wear as a hair slide or pendant?
