Georgian Diamond Ouroboros Ring
$1,200.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1830
A cool late Georgian ouroboros ring dating from the 1830s. It features fine scale textures and rose cut diamond eyes, and has survived the best part of 200 years in great condition. The Ouroboros, or "tail devourer", is a potent symbol that's been around since ancient times. It represents introspection and the cyclical nature of things, and originated in ancient Egyptian culture before entering the western tradition through the Greek Magical Papyri (Papyri Graecae Magicae) sometime between 100BC and 400AD.
