DATE: Georgian, c.1810
Attractive and dainty Georgian cluster ring with an oval halo of sapphires bordering a beautiful dendritic agate cabochon. It was made during the early 19th century, circa 1810; beautifully rustic/rough around the edges, it's crafted in 15 karat gold with a simple gold band.
Dendritic agate is a form of chalcedony that features fern/tree-like inclusions of darker iron oxides that seeped through the stone as it formed - the name, Dendritic, comes from the Greek word for tree.
