DATE: Edwardian, c.1910

The most exquisite antique round pendant dating from the Edwardian period, circa 1910. It's crafted in onyx, diamond and platinum, with a black cat in the centre, back arched. The quality is breathtaking: with fine millegrain work and expert craftsmanship, reflected in the level of detail realised from the cat's whiskers to its collar (complete with bell). The pendant is substantial in weight, made of solid platinum, and also featuring hand-chased rococo inspired floral motifs to the back. When I first handled this exceptional piece, I fully expected to find a Van Cleef or Cartier Paris signature on the side.
