DATE: Georgian, c.1750
An original 18th Century porcelain Derby Chelsea period fob seal. This particular piece features Cupid holding his bow, with arrow quiver slung over one shoulder, and displays the pale colouring typical of the Chelsea factory. The intaglio carved seal base remains present on this Georgian piece.
These seals would have been given as love tokens by the rich and famous of the day. Features the motto in red, "JE LE TENDRAY POUR VOUS" - or "I Stretch It for You". with "It" presumably meaning the Bow.
