Mourning jewellery has a rich and varied history that spans centuries, with each era introducing new styles and materials that changed attitudes towards death and grief. This beautiful ring for I.F Withington, who tragically died on October 21st aged 22, features a white and gold enamelled face with a weeping willow over a black and gold enamelled urn. Beneath rests a locket, home to a lock of hair and the reverse side reads "I.F Withington Died Oct 21, 1809 Aged 22". It's crafted in 15k gold throughout with open worked shoulders and ribbed band.
