DATE: Victorian, c.1860

Some days Alex comes in to the office with a piece of jewellery that simply floors me. Today is one of those days. Here's a mid Victorian gold perpetual calendar in full working order and modelled in 15 karat gold. The best part is that on the reverse it indicates the total hours of daylight/night-time in any given month, as well as the sunrise and sunset times (roughly, obviously). The inner discs are finished in royal blue enamel, and still swivel easily around. It was made in England in the 1860s.
