A cool Georgian ouroboros locket set with a halo of natural pearls around a central glass-fronted compartment. It's crafted in 9 karat gold and dates from the early 19th Century, circa 1820.
The Ouroboros, or "tail devourer", is a potent symbol that's been around since ancient times. It represents introspection and the cyclical nature of things, and originated in ancient Egyptian culture before entering the western tradition through the Greek Magical Papyri (Papyri Graecae Magicae) sometime between 100BC and 400AD.
