Georgian 67.5 carat Pear Cut Aquamarine Pendant
Georgian 67.5 carat Pear Cut Aquamarine Pendant
$6,450.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1830
An astonishing late Georgian pendant set with the dreamiest 67.5 carat pear shaped native cut aquamarine dangling beneath an old mine cut diamond bail. The aquamarine is remarkable in terms of size, colour, and cut - the myriad pavilion facets make up (what I imagine would be if it was round) a Fibonacci sequence, and bring out perfectly all of the fire and brilliance within the stone. It rests in a mount of similar beauty, characterised by slender claws and openwork heart motifs, each one home to three tiny gold balls. The diamonds are set in square silver pie-crust settings and feature small, high tables, and big open culets. Crafted in silver gilt.
