DATE: Georgian, c.1820

A FANtastic folding hand fan, French made, dating from the 19th Century, circa 1820. It's beautifully made, with gorgeous swirling cannetille guard sticks, all crafted in 14k gold. Three miniature enamel portraits top the cannetille work - with gold settings - that depict a knight, horses and people, maybe some sort of folktale. The sticks/frame are finely pierced and the silk fan, a gorgeous maroon colour with a painting of a couple in a countryside setting. With the painting and goldwork, it definitely looks a romantic and rare piece to me.

No marks present, tests as 14k gold 

CONDITION 

Very good, wear to the enamel portraits with a slight crack and one with an area lost. Fan ring shape slightly distorted however, does not affect use
