DATE: Georgian, c.1750
An original 18th Century porcelain Derby Chelsea period fob seal. This particular piece features Cupid holding a bottle and displays the pale colouring typical of the Chelsea factory. The gold bail and seal base are both present on this Georgian piece.
These seals would have been given as love tokens by the rich and famous of the day. Features the motto in red, "L'ARGENT FAIT TOUT" - or "money does everything".
From Bryant's The Chelsea Porcelian Toys (1925) p.126 - "Cupid seated on a mound holding a bottle. A blue wrap is slung over his back and round his waist, edged with gold. His quiver is on the ground behind him."

CONDITION
Some slight wear to the lettering just above the base - the motto can still be made out. Remarkably good condition considering the age of the piece. The original gold bail and seal are present.
