Huge Victorian Fancy-Link Double Albert Chain
Huge Victorian Fancy-Link Double Albert Chain
$12,000.00
Description
DATE: Victorian, c.1896
A fantastic antique example of the albert chain- this one is HUGE and comprises two solid rose gold fancy-link chains. Dating from the Victorian period with English hallmarks for London, the year 1896 and 9k gold. The chunky fancy-links feature gorgeous foliate and floral engraving throughout, and each one ends with two bolt rings and dog clips. They're connected by a large detailed t-bar, and it has a wearable length of 22 inches. Its a great size (huge, actually), and weighs in at a perfect 100 grams!
Albert Chains were used to suspend pocket watches, and were named after Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert who often wore them. Both Victoria and Albert were considered "fashion trendsetters". We love these chains, and they look great worn alone, in a stack or with charms and pendants attached.
