DATE: Victorian, c.1900

Weird Victorian Whitby Jet heart pendant set with six circular sections of pyrite (fools gold). With a 9k gold wire frame, twisted at the top to form a bail, it's a really unusual thing... pondering the meaning/significance, I get "fool's heart of gold", "only fools fall in love", "foolish love" etc etc. Maybe overthought/over pessimistic, but the black jet (mourning) and fool's gold certainly suggest failed relationship to me. Anyway, it's a cool thing.
