Regency Period Forget-Me-Not Locket Ring
$3,800.00
Description
DATE: Georgian Regency Period, c.1780
A charming Regency period ring with a secret... the back of the head features a locket compartment, to hold a keepsake discretely against the finger. The garnet head is surrounded by gold pommels and is decorated with a rose cut diamond forget-me-not flower. With two emeralds set at the shoulders and a wonderfully ornate band that's engraved with floral and scroll details. Crafted in 18 karat gold throughout.
Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of their "Language of Flowers". It had a major impact upon Victorian society, however, it first originated during the Georgian period. Many flowers represented a romantic or emotional sentiment, and in this case forget-me-not for true love.
