Georgian Diamond Memorial Ring
Georgian Diamond Memorial Ring
$1,750.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1822
A fantastic Georgian memorial band dedicated to Miss Jane Fitzherbert, who died aged 65 October 11th, 1822 (engraved on the inner band). Engraved raised edges of the 18k gold ring protects the black enamel band with the words "In Memory Of" in gold lettering, with a diamond set at the front of the band (quite unusual for a memorial band). The ring bears English hallmarks for 18k gold, London 1822: so this ring was made the year she died- with the makers mark "J.L" for John Linnet, who had made jewellery for Queen Victoria! There isn't much to say about Miss Jane Fitzherbert online, however she must have held some importance due to the maker of the ring.
