DATE: Art Nouveau, c.1900
Elizabeth Bonté is a highly collected jewellery designer, known for her outstanding work and creations of Art Nouveau pieces, in her workshop in Paris. She worked alongside Georges Pierre, another talented designer who created these fantastic Nouveau pieces. She is known to be one of "the" best in this genre of jewellery, especially with the carved horn pieces, and this piece is signed, which is a lovely bonus too.
Bonté's work has been displayed in many of galleries across the globe, including Chicago History Museum, Illinois, and the Museum of Design in Plastics in the United Kingdom.
This amazing necklace, is meticulously carved from a single piece of horn. Set in the centre, a gorgeous round of art glass, displaying flashes of orange against a pale teal blue. It's strung on a long multi thread cord, with matching art glass beads and a articulated drop. Signed "E Bonté" to the back, it remains in excellent antique condition, a truly collectable piece.
