DATE: Victorian, c.1880

An............ interesting Victorian intaglio ring, to say the least. The carnelian agate stone is mounted on a spinner, and has been carved with an ancient Roman style intaglio on each side. The domed side, intended to be worn showing up, is carved with a very Roman-looking lady. So far so normal. The flat side underneath, however, has been carved with an x-rated scene, presumably featuring the Roman-looking lady and her husband (or maybe not...)
