DATE: Georgian, c.1830

A charming antique charm modelled as a padlock and key. It dates from the Georgian period, circa 1830 and is set on the front and back with turquoise forget-me-not flowers and engraved scroll and floral details. It's crafted in 9k yellow gold and the locking mechanism still works, requiring a turn of the key to open the top.

Antique jewellery often includes floral motifs, as part of the "Language of Flowers", whereby each flower or plant represented some romantic or emotional sentiment... In this case, forget-me-not for remembrance.
