DATE: Art Deco, c.1920

A stunning Art Deco period cocktail ring set with a highly domed Star Sapphire cabochon. The stone is a milky blue, with violet undertones, and displaying asterism when moved around under light. The mount is a wonder in itself, set with chevrons of diamonds in openworked millegrain settings in the shoulders, and a gorgeous geometric design to the back of the sapphire. It's English made with French import marks (Paris assay office) indicating it was retailed in the French capital. It dates from the 1920s, with a 15 karat white gold band and platinum settings.
