DATE: Art Deco, c.1930
**RESERVED for BP** Striking Art Deco brooch featuring a pair of palm trees hanging over the ocean with mountains in the background. The colour palette has a distinct Miami Vice flavour, with hand-painted blues and pinks over an iridescent blue morpho (real) butterfly wing background. Made and signed by Thomas L Mott, who presented his first butterfly wing brooches at the 1924 British Exposition, before acquiring two other producers of the style, Owen Brothers and Henry W King & Son, to become the leading creator of butterfly jewellery throughout the 1920s and '30s.
