$2,000.00
Description
DATE: Georgian, c.1750
An original 18th Century Derby Chelsea period porcelain fob. This particular piece features cupid sitting on a barrel with a bottle and glass in his hand, adorned with bunches of grapes. It displays the pale colouring and high detail typical of the Chelsea factory.
The seals often feature a base with carved agate or similar which would have been added by a jeweller after the item left the workshop. This piece, however, does not have the added base and so a flower painting is visible on the bottom.
These seals would have been given as love tokens by the rich and famous of the day.
