WW1 Enamel Army Service Corps Signet Ring
WW1 Enamel Army Service Corps Signet Ring
$900.00
Description
DATE: WW1, 1916
Remarkable WW1 era signet ring featuring the Army Service Corps insignia in hand-painted enamel. The ASC (now known as the Royal Army Service Corps, as of 1918) was the unsung hero of the Great War, responsibly for ensuring an ongoing and adequate supply of provisions and equipment to troops all across the theatre of war. The vast majority of the supply came directly from Britain itself, and using horse and motor vehicles, railways and waterways, the ASC performed prodigious feats of logistics providing a strength of organisation by which the war was won. At its peak, the ASC included over 315,000 enlisted men and over 10,500 officers. This ring was made in 1916, presumably a private commission. It's crafted in 9 karat gold with clear English hallmarks.
